FIFA Deputy Secretary General Zvonimir Boban has been honoured during the 21st edition of the Fair Play Menarini Awards in Italy.
The former Croatia international was presented with the ‘Fair Play – Sport and Life’ award during the ceremony at the home of the Italian National Olympic Committee in Castiglion Fiorentino on 6 July.
“I am very proud about receiving this award,” Boban said, “but in particular for sharing the stage with so many people doing great things for sports and fair play. They are real heroes.”
The ex-AC Milan star was among eighteen individuals commended at the ceremony, including 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ ambassador Yelena Isinbayeva and two-time Olympic 800m gold medallist David Rudisha. The awards look to champion the principles of fair play and hope to help the sporting world embody those values.
