The FA are confident that Gareth Southgate will see through his contract until Euro 2020 despite the clamour for his services that is likely to develop.
The relationships Southgate has within the organisation and the trust he has built up with this young team means it is thought he would want to finish the job he has started with England.
He is likely to continue through to the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, with his contract extended assuming the team qualifies for Euro 2020.

It seems highly likely the FA would improve his £1.8million a year basic deal in the autumn.
FA technical director Dan Ashworth is also likely to be highly sought after his detailed planning for tournaments, which saw England win Under-20 and Under-17 World Cup last year.
The FA believes that the blueprint they have established could survive Ashworth’s departure.

All age-group coaches have input into it as well as technical staff and the FA has been evolving a way of working that they believe suits English teams in tournaments.
England women’s coach Phil Neville has been meeting with Ashworth and Southgate so as to prepare for next year’s World Cup in France, in which there will be enormous pressure to better the semi-final stage they made in 2015.
