After a welcome break following the end of the domestic season, Joachim Low’s Germany side are back to work as they look to get in shape ahead of the World Cup.

Germany, who head into the World Cup as one of the pre-tournament favourites, touched down by plane in South Tyrol, northern Italy, on Wednesday for their first training camp.

The likes of Leroy Sane, Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira and Manuel Neuer were seen arriving at Bolzano Airport before making way to their training base.

The reigning World Cup champions were then pictured arriving at their training camp in Eppan, a comune in South Tyrol.

The star-studded Germany squad were warmly greeted by excited staff as they stepped off their coach on arrival at their hotel.

Low has yet to name his definite World Cup squad but there will certainly be a couple of Germany players hoping to impress over the next week or so.

None more so than Bayern Munich goalkeeper Neuer, who was included in the preliminary 27-man squad, even though he has not featured since September with a long-term foot injury.

The 32-year-old, arguably the best keeper in world football, will be desperate to prove his fitness levels as he looks to help Germany retain the World Cup.

Neuer will soon find out his fate with Low having to finalise his squad by June 4 at the very latest.

Germany’s World Cup campaign gets underway against Mexico, before they take on Sweden and South Korea in their other group games.
